Day 144 - Morrys french chicken

we had a great chicken dish but I cant upload the stupid photo.

Day 143 - New York Pizza

Yay! Yippee! Morry's home and life can go back to normal.

Family dinner tonight from the Jamie Oliver 30 minute meals. The pizza was a bit of a wierd dough, just self raising flour and water blitzed in the food processor and then cooked in a frying pan to do the bottom and the grill to do the top. It was actually quite tasty! His meal plan has the rocket salad and tomotato salad, it also has a fresh mozarella and zucchini salad, but I decided that sounded a bit blah, so I left it out.

The meal was great, relaxed food and a nice bottle of wine made for a nice welcome home

Easy sandwich bread

I am posting this recipe so that I can find it again myself!!! It comes from the BBC Good Food website Ingredients 500g wholewheat &/or white flour 7g sachet fast-action dried yeast 1 tsp salt 2 tbsp olive oil 1 tbsp clear honey Step 1 Tip the flour, yeast and salt into a large bowl and mix together with your hands. Stir 300ml hand-hot water with the oil and honey, then stir into the dry ingredients to make a soft dough. Step 2 Knead the dough for 5 mins, until the dough no longer feels sticky, sprinkling with a little more flour if you need it. Step 3. put the dough in tin, pressing it in evenly. Put in a large plastic food bag and leave to rise for 1 hr, until the dough has risen to fill the tin Step 4. Heat oven to 200C/fan 180C/gas 6. Make several slashes across the top of the loaf with a sharp knife, then bake for 30-35 mins until the loaf is risen and golden. Tip it out onto a cooling rack and tap the base of the bread to check it is cooked. It should sound hollow. Leave to cool.

who cares?

its really lonely on your own. Morry is away for a couple of weeks. I barely sit down at night and have only once actually cooked myself dinner since he left 5 days ago. i cooked a tuna and broccoli stir fry, took a photo, but havent had time to upload it. So its all too hard, im taking a break until Morry comes home.

Instead of what I ate, perhaps I could post a different bottle of wine each night and call it what I drank? or post my outfit for the day and call it what I wore? Or post of list of the truly exciting chores I accomplished each day and call it what I did? Or maybe I could just peruse my recipe books and wait for Morry to come home.

Im bored without you Honey.

Day 142 - slow cooked chicken curry

This was really rich. I used the Pataks butter chicken curry paste but made it in the slow cooker without all of the cream. Over the course of the day the chicken became almost caramelised. Served with Basmati rice and some natural yoghurt.

Day 141 - All time personal favourite

OK, this is a personal favourite and we do normally have it a few times a year.

Brown rice has a fabulous texture and and flavour. Its nutty and you actually have to chew it!

Steam the rice. In a saucepan, fry red capsicum, button mushrooms and lots of spring onion in the oil from a tin of tuna. Add the cooked rice and the tuna and some steamed snow peas.

I cannot convey how delightful this dish is. It is healthy, filling and best of all, totally divine. moorish. yummy.
